Tom Cruise moved into the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday — stream planes close behind — wrenching up merriments with activity, star power and signature signings on honorary pathway.
Fans welcomed him with whoops and hollers and the French Air Force aerobatic group Patrouille de France flew upward, splashing the sky with shaded smoke trails in red, white and blue.
Journey was in the city to advance the hotly anticipated Top Gun: Maverick film continuation, which was kept down for quite some time in light of the Covid pandemic. A first-class draw, it has added significant buzz to the world's biggest film celebration as it denotes a showy return for its 75th commemoration release.

In a tuxedo and dark necktie, the American star worked the group arranged along honorary pathway, marking photographs and modeling for selfies.
He presented with individual entertainers Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller, applauding celebration chief Thierry Fremaux on the back when the planes flew over head.
Voyage had shown up before in the day, getting out of a dark vehicle to the serenades of "Tom! Tom!"
A few fans had been enjoying the great outdoors out since breakfast.
"I was like, 'I should see him, totally, somehow!'" said Oriane Holz, 22. She held up a sign requesting passes to the screening of the film.
Katy McNulty, 46 and Joanne Routledge, 52, had been out and about since before sunrise. The pair were up at 3am and gone from the north of England to Scotland, flying from Edinburgh to Nice, and afterward a train to Cannes to show up in time for Cruise's appearance.

What were they plotting for?
"A selfie with Tom since we guaranteed them at work that is everything we'll convey and they said to us we wouldn't," said Routledge.
Stan Hamilton, an American understudy learning French in Cannes, said: "Me and my dad watched Top Gun when I was a kid. I want to be here with me now."
